Hi! I'm Christi Angel, and I'll be your guide on this journey, I am a mother of a 15-year old little boy named Christian, who has a diagnosis of Down Syndrome, ADHD, with behaviors on the spectrum. I have a little gumbo baby; a little bit of everything and oh so special! This site was birthed from my experiences as a special needs mother and parent advocate as well as my frustration that more parents didn't have the information that I do. I have found during my parenting journey that many things are often not in plain sight, not available, or are just not mentioned. It's as if there is no clear guidebook to being a new parent of a special child. I wanted to change that. I pride myself on being a "pitbull" advocate/mom. If it's out there I WILL find it and make sure my son has every chance and resource available. As I am sure, many of you feel the same way.
Well, you've come to the right place. I have compounded 15 years of information and I am your open book. Initially, this website was going to be a book series (honestly, if I can find the time, I may just do that.) Presently, I felt the need to deposit my information in a place reachable for parents like myself; those eager for a path to understanding, support, and resources. I am a mother still in the process with you and I'm sure I will be the friend in your head as I hold your hand along this journey; This is a journey, a rollercoaster, and a wave of moments we will ride them together.
On this site, I will blog about my personal experiences as I feel transparency is key to connecting with others. Through my personal journey, experiences, and study, I hope to empower you to feel like you too can do this. You can make it on this journey, and you have a tribe of people here to support you along the way. Additionally, I hope to launch a branch of tech support and advocacy. I want to support you in all ways possible. I am always an open book eager to answer your questions and provide guidance. Thank you so much for being part of this community.
